3 day Anticlastic Exploration

This is a three-day exploration in anticlastic metal forming; Anticlastic shapes are curves that go in 2 opposite directions, like a saddle or a Pringle chip and can be achieved with simple hand tools. It is very useful in jewelry making. You will be building on skills learned along the way.  Starting with an adjustable anticlastic formed ring and then formed spiral earrings, then on to formed cuff and wrap bangle bracelets. Anticlastic forming requires several different mallets and stakes in wood, delrin or steel.. We will discuss what tools and stakes you can make, which to buy and what you can do without in the beginning. Beginners can learn the basics and be successful with impressive results, while more experienced formers will be challenged to push their skill to next level. It is also a lot of fun.

Some hand strength and endurance are necessary.

We will be working in base metal, mostly copper, but you are encouraged to bring silver if that is what you are comfortable working in. I will offer some pattern shapes and Step by step handouts with photos for future reference.
