Riveting Rivets  Description

In this workshop we will be taking a deep dive into using rivets and spacers in combination with layers of sheet to create 3-dimensional, layered constructions.

 We will explore the functional and design possibilities of rivets both as a means of securely connecting multiple separate components and layers in structures, but also as design elements and accents that add visual interest to layered compositions.

 We’ll cover the use of multiple kinds of rivets – simple rivets that are wire alone, rivets with heads, making rivet heads using shot-plates, tube rivets, and tube rivets that include small stone settings. Additionally, we will learn how to design layers that coordinate compositionally in 3-dimensional constructions. The goal in this workshop is to complete at least one fully assembled project with the possibility of creating a rivet sample plate, and/or starting (and completing as time allows) an additional layered/riveted project.
